Phillip Everett Smith

As one of the founders of the law firm of Smith Smith & Feeley LLP, Mr. Smith focuses his practice exclusively on liability insurance matters.  He is actively involved in providing claims handling and coverage advice on cases involving various types of liability policies (including homeowners, commercial general liability, personal and business automobile liability, excess/umbrella liability, professional liability, and directors and officers liability); representing insurers and insureds in coverage litigation in state and federal court; providing insurance policy drafting consultation; and assisting in insurance regulatory compliance.  Mr. Smith has practiced insurance coverage law continuously since 1986.

Mr. Smith has an “AV rating” by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating provided based on legal ability and ethical standards.  In addition, he has been named a Southern California “Super Lawyer” in the field of insurance coverage for 2007-2009 and 2011-2020.

Mr. Smith is a member of the American Bar Association (Tort and Insurance Practice Section), Orange County Bar Association (Insurance Law Section), and Association of Southern California Defense Counsel.

He is admitted to practice in all California State Courts, the United States District Court (Southern, Central, Eastern and Northern Districts of California) and the United States Court of Appeals (Ninth Circuit)
