Nina Kani is the principal and founder of Kani Law Group.
Ms. Kani’s labor and employment experience spans two decades across a wide variety of industries, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Ms. Kani’s practice focuses on advice and counseling on all aspects of labor and employment law, human resources management, and defense of labor and employment litigation.
Ms. Kani handles day-to-day employment law issues that arise through her clients' businesses, regardless of size or industry. In addition, she routinely handles internal investigations for employers and responds on her clients' behalf to complaints filed with government agencies. Ms. Kani is also a seasoned litigator, with experience in sexual harassment, disability, retaliation, wage and hour, and trade secret disputes.
Ms. Kani is the primary attorney on all Kani Law Group matters. However, when it is in her clients’ best interests, Ms. Kani supervises other attorneys and staff, specifically retained for their excellence, to provide the best service for her clients.
Ms. Kani graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, cum laude. She earned two undergraduate degrees (Political Science; International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies) from the University of California, Irvine, summa cum laude. Ms. Kani has served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Howard A. Matz, Judge of the United States District Court, Central District of California. She is admitted to practice law in the state of California, as well as several United States District Courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to opening Kani Law Group, Ms. Kani was a labor and employment attorney at Foley & Lardner LLP and O’Melveny & Myers LLP in San Francisco. Ms. Kani has published articles for the San Francisco Recorder and has regularly contributed to industry magazines regarding labor and employment matters.
Ms. Kani has also been named a Rising Star by Superlawyers Magazine in Labor and Employment Law for solo and small firm practice. Selection is based on peer nomination and research process designed to select the highest rated attorneys.
