Hendry v. 7-Eleven
Jul 10, 2015OUTCOME: $390,000 jury verdict
A 7-Eleven worker cleaned up a coffee still at the front entrance of the store by mopping the floor and the underside of a floor mat. She placed the wet mat on top of the wet floor. Moments later, Ms ... . Hendry was walking out of the store after purchasing a muffin. When she placed her foot on the floor mat it slipped out from under her and she violently fell down on top of her leg. She fractured her ankle and tore her meniscus. 7-Eleven claimed that they had sufficiently warned of the hazardous condition by placing a yellow “wet floor” sign two feet from where Ms. Hendry slipped. 7-Eleven contended that her pre-existing severe knee arthritis was the sole cause of the knee injuries. The jury found that 7-Eleven was 100% negligent. The case was prosecuted by consumer attorneys Jeff Roberts and Michael Jeandron.
