My wife of 14 years and I went to mediation for 15 months but were unable to settle our divorce. She did whatever she could do to postpone finalizing our divorce. The main issue for me was that I wanted my 15-year old daughter to have the choice to live at whichever parent's home she wanted and for t...he time she wanted. Other than getting the divorce over with, I did not care about much else. My wife's attorney cleverly tried to come up with every possible way to drag things on, too. After interviewing a number of attorneys, I met with Graham Kirkman and Morgan Levanger at Nelson Kirkman (please see my separate review of Morgan). The other lawyers I saw seemed to tell me whatever they thought I wanted to hear, tried to convince me that I didn’t want to pay my wife the money I was happy to pay, and told me things about the prospective timeline that I knew could not be true. Alternatively, Graham responded candidly to my questions, with little concern for how I might react. He gave me the possible worst-case scenarios for how things might go. So, I hired him and Morgan. The guy is wicked smart, as well as conscientious and responsive. Graham, and everyone else at Nelson Kirkman, treat you like their priority, even when you know they have many other clients. Graham misses no details, and knows how to get you whatever you want. If I had wanted to pay less than half what I agreed to pay, it would have been easy to accomplish with Graham and Morgan at the helm. These guys are a team, and clearly a winning team. If you are dealing with a difficult divorce, Graham will ensure that a fair resolution is achieved.

Graham was the perfect attorney for me and I would recommend him to everyone who needs legal help. He knows his stuff and explained processes and concepts patiently but clearly and concisely to me to help me make the right decisions. Graham is personable and a pleasure to work with, and was excellent... in his preparation before court hearings and then before the judge. My experience could not have been better. Graham was highly professional, always responsive to my questions and concerns, and amazingly knowledgeable even about a rather arcane feature of my case. Perhaps even more importantly, he was always a pleasure to speak with -- calm, respectful, and with a gr...eat sense of humor. If you have any experience with divorce lawyers, you will have encountered many who try to make you angry at your spouse, interpret every action they take as hostile, and just generally fan the flames so as to drag the case out as much as possible (and thus make themselves the most money). Graham was not like that *at all*. While he advised to hold firm on important issues, he always encouraged me to work with my spouse to resolve things amicably, so that we were often able to sideline attempts by their attorney to make matters worse. In the end, with Graham's help, we arrived at a resolution that my ex and I both feel good about. If you're anxious about your divorce and don't want to go scorched earth with your spouse, do yourself a favor and hire Graham.

First of all the courts ruled in my favor, so I am very satisfied and happy. I do not have any previous personal experience with lawyers but, I can't imagine working with someone more professional, considerate and understanding as Graham. Graham knows the law and is very good at explaining it in laym...an's terms. Graham is very punctual in responding to questions, emails and voicemails.
