Harland L. Burge Jr

I've read the 2 other reviews and am puzzled. Mr. Burge was such a wonderful caring man. He helped me when all other attorneys wouldn't take my case as I did not have a lot of money. He represented me on 2 different occasions. The first being getting my court ordered divorce monies given to me. My ex... held up the sale of our home for 10 years while he and his new wife lived in our home. Mr. Burge took care of getting things settled and I got what was rightfully mine. The 2nd instance was after I purchased a foreclosure home, my contractor took advantage of me so horribly. The contractor put a mechanics lean on my home and I was struggling to keep it. The work had not been completed and we were living in the garage. Mr. Burge and I sued the contractor and we won in court so much so that the contractor lost his license and had to reimburse me! The judge in San Bernardino Superior Court said after the case was done, "you have a very good lawyer". I truly did. He was on his game and had the contractor so confused he couldn't remember his own lies. I would recommend and have recommended Mr. Burge to anyone who needs a good attorney. He has a kind heart and really cares about justice. The 1st case was 2003 and the 2nd case was 2008. He saved me and I kept my home. I have the highest respect for him.

I was represented by Harland L Burge, in 2002 during a trial in Santa Ana Superior Court , Kimes v. William Lyon Property Management, where I was ELECTROCUTED in my luxury apartment which the management was 100% responsible for because they knew water was gushing from an up stairs flood above me, AND... they failed to ever simply turn off the power to the building! Water was heavily through my apartment and I got electrocuted when I UNAVOIDABLY turned on a light switch in the dark master bedroom which there was no way to see the water coming through in the dark back bath room. ZAP! IT was all over for me! Mr.Burge was severely INCOMPETENT during his representation! For example, during the trial, MR.Burge was stopped by the judge over 30 times for calling witnesses by their wrong names then he would do it again to the same witness LITERALLY 30 seconds later! Then at closing Mr.Burge allowed the defence attorney to make 100% FALSE crucial material statements to the jury without correcting the falsehoods with our solid proof! We had solid proof from whiteness and events that the defences closing statements were fabricated , yet, Mr.Burge just just allowed it without even correcting it with a word to the jury which the entire case depended upon! He refuses to be accountable for his wrong doing and lies about it, but the transcripts prove what I say is true and Mr. Burge is a lier for his own client. He is very unethical and immoral and is currently being sued for major legal malpractice! I gave Mr.Burge a SOLIDLY winnable case and he destroyed it and justice for me. Thus, I've been the victim twice here, once due the electrocution AND another time for major legal malpractice and incompetence from Harland Burge for destroying a perfect case that a 5 year old could have won by correcting the defences fabricated material statements, and destroying credibility with our jury by repeatedly calling witnesses by wrong names! Then Mr.Burge coerced me to quickly sign away my appeal knowingly he ruined my PERFECT case! Mr.Burge warned me that he was a confused senile old man and would destroy my case. I THOUGHT HE WAS JOKING!!! He ought to be dis barred.

I was a client of Burge’s for a period of years. A retainer agreement was signed based on Burge’s representations of his breadth of experience in a wide range of legal topics. I hired Burge with the upmost sincere trust. He is proficient at shuffling papers and creating a convincing illusion that h...e is working hard for you. In reality, he did not properly advance my case, he refused to provide copies of certain documents to me during his representation of me, he hid documents from me, he told me that I could be held criminally liable if I discussed the terms of my settlement agreement with any third party before it was signed which is untrue, he refused to require the opposing party to produce documents requested by the court, he refused to address inconsistencies in multiple depositions, he coerced me to sign a settlement agreement based on false promises that he would advance my case by other means once the settlement agreement was signed and many more instances of professional misconduct. During his representation of me, he seemed to be working more for the opposing parties than representing me pursuant to his sworn oath. Worse yet, he lied to me over and over again on many issues, all of which were not discovered until much later following his “quitting” his representation of me. In addition, he attempted to defame my character both during his representation of me and afterwards. I sought legal representation not because I am vindictive but to seek justice and redress for very personal legal issues. Rather, I hired one who, I believe, should no longer be practicing law anywhere. Please consider hiring this person as your counsel very carefully. I feel it is my obligation to caution those seeking legal representation.
