Felony Burglary, Forgery, Identity Theft Charges
Jun 24, 2014OUTCOME: Negotiated for Client to plead to only one charge as a misdemeanor--D.A. dismissed remaining felonies, reduced remaining charge to misdemeanor. Client's terms of probation was unsupervised probation, court fees, caltrans--no jail.
Client forged a driver's license, using his photograph and personal information, but assumed the identity of another person without their permission. He used this i.d. to obtain a credit line with Nor ... dstrom. Once he obtained that, he purchased a gift card. Before he could purchase anything, Nordstrom had contacted the actual person and determined Client had falsified the card. Client admitted to falsifying/forging the card to obtain the line of credit; was going to give card back to "mastermind" of this scheme and was going to obtain a commission from the transaction. Client admitted was going to conduct several more transactions in the future.
