Jonathan Paul Schmidt

Jonathan P. Schmidt is an Associate in the Orange County, California office of Jackson Lewis P.C.  His practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counsel.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Mr. Schmidt was a senior associate at a boutique civil litigation firm defending employers in workplace law matters, as well as prosecuting and defending companies in complex contractual disputes and business tort cases. In that capacity, Mr. Schmidt successfully negotiated settlements on behalf of his clients and achieved positive results, including a unanimous jury verdict for an employer in a wrongful termination and wage-and-hour case. 

Mr. Schmidt also previously worked as a deputy district attorney for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. As a prosecutor, Mr. Schmidt conducted multiple jury trials and successfully argued hundreds of dispositive motions in courts throughout the county. 

While attending law school, Mr. Schmidt was a member of the San Diego International Law Journal and participated in the National Moot Court Team. He earned recognition for his legal writing and oral advocacy both at his law school and at several national moot court competitions.
