Barbara was the 3rd lawyer I hired, and by far the best. The first was a bulldog, who while good, also inflamed the situation and caused more extreme actions. The 2nd took me for $18K and literally did not lift a finger - couldn't even respond to my emails and told the opposing counsel that we would ...just accept their offer without consulting me. Guess 3rd time is a charm because Barbara hit all the right chords. She may seem unassuming, but her questions and insights were spot on. She knew when to call in experts and was not afraid to acknowledge issues that were beyond her purview. She sought to keep our case out of court was very clear about the choices, options, explain all tradeoffs, and always kept the children top of mind. She also was by far the most accessible and reliable. And at the end of the day, that turned out to be key. There are so many questions and concerns in divorce and if your lawyer is not there communicating, well it doesn't help calm the nerves at all. She offered the help of her assistant when giant discovery demands would come in yet I never believed she was burning my money the way other lawyers do. She is realistic, of course knows the law, and always just seeks a balance between the battles and the war. Btw, I would not say I "won" in the sense of I did not clean up, but nor do I think I lost, and she helped me recognize that while it was up to me, in the end there is also a benefit to simply having the divorce done and being able to move on with life. To be clear - I am very picky about professionals I deal with, and I do not leave a positive review just to be a "nice guy". If I don't mean it or believe it, I don't say it, and I honestly believe you won't go wrong with Barbara. Her heart is sincerely in the right place and that makes a difference. She is not just about making money off her clients.
