Rude, dismissive, no accountability, did not do anything for 8 months

Rudest lawyer I've ever encountered. Do not waste your time! After 6 months of nothing in QDRO and randomly blaming me for putting it on hold because I apparently made a call to their office to put it on hold. When I asked for court order for the hold, he "resumes it". When I asked him what has been ...done so far, he said "your problem will be handled and we're done talking" and hangs up on me. Very dismissive. I'm not sure how they allow him to practice still. From the reviews, it's apparently not just my experience with him. He twists what was said and asked to blame the clients. Beware!

As I stated-we received a request to put your file on hold from "you" and you confirmed it was not actually "you" it was someone else pretending to be you-likely on behalf of your ex-husband. We are submitting the documents to court now in response to your request. I understand you want us to 'investigate' this further-and we decline-we are not detectives and we understand you are upset at us for this. The process is back on track and we are completing it as retained.

ATTORNEY DAVID RUEGG - EXCELLENT QDRO ATTORNEY

I wish to personally thank Attorney David Ruegg and his Staff for the outstanding job of handling our QDROs. When it came time to start the process, the one and only thing my “ex” and I agreed on was having Attorney Ruegg process the division of our retirement accounts and OCERS pension. For a min...imal retainer fee, it is well worth the cost to hire a QDRO attorney to handle all retirement accounts, regardless if a QDRO is necessary. My recommendation for everyone out there going through a divorce and/or has a divorce decree is: • DO NOT use a divorce attorney. Hire a QDRO Attorney (David Ruegg) that specializes in this type of law. • BE PATIENT. Your retirement funds will eventually be divided. Depending on the length of marriage, number of accounts and cooperation by both parties, it may take time. Attorney Ruegg is not receiving a dime more than the initial retainer, so he wants your QDROs to be resolved in a timely manner, just as much as you do. At the end of the day, I received what was rightfully owed to me - my fair share of the retirement funds and Survivor Benefits to a County Retirement Pension, which is something my “ex” tried to prevent me from receiving! I have a tremendous amount of gratitude and respect for Attorney David Ruegg for his competency, hard work and knowledge of the process. Sincerely, Cheryl Stack

QDRO specialist

He is good. He does listen to your questions and does the best to explain it to you. Considering we all had to follow the covid restrictions not always at the office they did great to accommodate me. We just need to be patient they always called back. Adriana is such a blessing to this practice al...ways trying to do anything to help me. Adriana always went out of her way understanding my needs and what I was going thru. Customer service overall it was excellent. I definitely would highly recommend them. Thank you again for understanding my situation. God bless you guys.

It was a bad experience using David Ruegg

I was referred to David Ruegg by my ex wife’s family law attorney. We had to go thru a QDRO to divide our retirement accounts. The communication with David and his office staff was horrible. It sometimes took a week or more for them to respond to emails. I wanted to talk to David and he would not ret...urn my calls or emails. I scheduled a appointment on his link so I could talk to him.. He did call but when he realized it was me he became rude and disrespectful..He said I was his most annoying client and hung up on me. Later that day he sent me a written warning. Wow he’s something else I’m a paying client with questions and he just treats me horrible. He’s very unprofessional! He prepared 3 QDROS for me and my ex wife and the last one took longer then the others because a separate property trace was being done. Both David and the family court have links so u may check the status of your QDRO. On 3-27-2019 the family court link showed a ROA and once it imaged this was what i had been waiting for the final QDRO. I kept a eye on David’s link expecting it to say that he received it back from the court and sent it in to the plan administrator for division. After about 1 month and a half his link still had not been updated. I sent a email and they responded that they were still waiting on the finalized QDRO. They said they had ordered it but still had not received it. Are u kidding me?? Why not send someone down to the court house to pick it up?? After waiting almost 60 days for them to do there jobs I went to the court clerk and paid for a certified copy and sent it in to the plan administrator and it was divided and it’s done. It was a very frustrating experience using David for our QDROS because of there poor communication and they could not stay organized. Lastly I don’t know who he thinks he is yelling at me and hanging up on me I’m a paying client. This guy is very unprofessional and I don’t recommend using him ever!

I beat the time-frame I initially quoted you for 'total time required to get the job done' on 2 of the 3 QDROs you retained me on and met the time-frame for the last QDRO (even after the delays due to the separate property trace). I am sorry you had a negative experience with this office, which is not reflective of the vast majority of our clients. I wish you well, Mike, and I am glad we were able to successfully complete the job you hired us to do.
