Biography
The photo you see is the real deal. This photo shows me in Djibouti undergoing the French Desert Combat and Survival course in 2008. Ten days in the HEAT! We finished up the course with two forced marches. One 15 miler in the morning and one 20 miler that ran all night. All in one day.
This was my break from providing legal services to the Combined Joint Task Force -- Horn of Africa, at Camp Lemonier from 2007-2008. (Indeed, they were the best 10 days I spent in DJ despite the heat and dirt.)
Besides cooking myself in Djibouti, I had assignments that took me to Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Germany. Other travel took me to Tanzania and Zanzibar.
This was not my first overseas tour. In 2004 I served in Mosul Iraq with a Civil Affairs Battalion.
Other military travel has taken me to Korea and Thailand.
