STAY AWAY

DO NOT COME HERE if you are looking for assistance with a restraining order and child custody!!!!! All they did was waste time and money to not even follow through with the contract they provided! They never once cared about my case but I never had to do this and trusted them after reading reviews fo...rking over almost 10,000 without question! Maybe you will have a better experience with other services but if you are advised to have Gousiha Farouk RUN. When I obtained her as a lawyer she had only been with the law firm for 9 months had I known she wasn’t experienced in the field I would have never gone forward! I have a restraining order against the other party in the criminal and family law. After working with them for months she advised that we had more than enough sufficient evidence to continue with pursuing a restraining order prior to going to court the other party had tried negotiating multiple times making her job easier to find a middle point. when we went to the first hearing it was continued and the opposing party requested visitation until the next hearing it was granted and mind you the day before her specific words to me were they cant get both a continuance and ask for custody and what will you know the next day I get a call from her legal assistant Sara Travoki telling me this information and to my surprise I couldn’t believe it in shock and her response to me was you new this was going to happen I will never forget because I still said nothing not only in shock from the news but having her say that as if it was nothing. Being in shock and hearing that I had to respond and I said oh ok I will talk to gousiha and she quickly hung up. I understand it’s the norm for these attorneys as they do this day in and day out but at least act like you care and how can you say that to someone who is going through a difficult matter involving a baby! When I followed up with gousiha, as always she tries to make it as if it was our of her control but mind you before she was so certain with her expertise and experience and I understood because what can I do when court already took place at this point we had discussed everything and I still was uneasy about the comment her legal assistant made and I spent so much money I think it’s fair for me to address my concerns and so as soon as we finished our conversation I explained how her legal assistant stated that to me mind you because the court took place that same day I had to go pick up documents from them and she had hung up on me I had to call back in and I went the same day to pick up my paperwork and I expressed how that shouldn’t have been said because I did that the next thing I know she’s saying that she’s know going to have to refer me to someone else. We continued to talk and she told me she spoke to her other partners and they want to continue to refer me to someone else yet we were just talking about the plan to move forward and our next steps and we were about to the call but because I expressed how I felt regarding how her assistant handled the breakdown of my case all of a sudden my case was thrown out the window and technically at this point she was saying oh I will follow up with you in two days to see what decision we make but clearly and even when speaking with her it was evident that she didn’t want to handle my case so she would look for any excuse to cancel contract and in the retainer they notate they can remove themselves if they have a reason as to why they feel they cannot continue and what do you know all of a sudden now my evidence isn’t sufficient and now there advising I shouldn’t even try to get a continuance of my restraining order and at this point they claim there isn’t enough to move forward and that is the concern and reason for why they will terminate the contract mind you at this point I have reached out to opposing party myself and they confirmed they have not sent any new evidence so all my evidence is still the same there are no changes there

A Caring and solid partner with Integrity

I was referred Attorney Farook by her Managing Attorney, William Bratton - what a gift! Attorney Farook was not only responsive and sensitive to my situation. Her professionalism and attention to detail was impressive. I thought I knew exactly what I needed, however this did not deter her from he...lping me to see and understand other options that I had not thought about upfront. When I asked difficult questions, I received honest and direct answers- however she always did her best to meet and even exceed my desires and expectations, while not over promising. As her client i was left with the overriding feeling that she is always working in your best interests and cares. I can only but highly recommend Attorney Farook for anyone looking for someone they can trust and depend on.

Goushia is The BEST!

Goushia is the BEST on so many different levels, both professionally and personally. We retained Goushia on a guardianship case once the judge ordered it to trial. Although the case seemed it was easy enough, it became complex near the end. Our prior counsel, was unable to comprehend the case, and be...gan to act unethically. We sought out another attorney, and many were not willing to take on a guardianship case. Initially speaking with Goushia, I knew I wanted her to represent us. She was very clear in what she has to offer, yet very humble! Yes....HUMBLE! Her accomplishments are awesome coupled with a 60% success rate, and her story is even more amazing. It gets better.....In working with Goushia, she could sense my anxiety and frustration, and knew how to "reel" me back in, keeping me focused on the case. She reviewed our case in a couple weeks, and knew the dynamics and ALL of the players quite well. She never made senseless emails/calls generating bills, and strategically gathered information at one given time. She's transparent, compassionate and well-versed for court. I would hire her 10x's over. I pray that she be blessed in health, wealth and spirit!!

Be warned -This lawyer will try to take advantage of you and your family and is unethical

I hired Ms. Farook to handle custody case where I was a victim of domestic violence and my husband was abusing our child physically. Ms. Farook seemed to have positive reviews, and was a fast talker. I explained my situation to Ms. Farook, that I was a victim of years of well documented domestic viol...ence, I had police reports and hospital records confirming the abuse, as well as video footage if my attacker physically assaulting me. Ms. Farook tried to convince me that domestic violence, or "DV" as she called it, did not play much of a role in child custody, that domestic violence would just be a couple lines on your general petition. This is not only blatantly false, it was completely disregarding that my child had also been the victim of physical abuse by the other parent. Domestic violence is actually a deciding factor in custody cases, so much so that if one parent is convicted of a domestic violence charge, in most cases the physically abusive parent can never legally be granted custody of the child. I trusted my gut and called the national domestic violence hotline. The national domestic violence hotline explained that I could get a restraining order to protect my child and I from my abusive ex. Ms. Farook may have completely sabotaged my case had I not fired her after discovering the truth about domestic violence and custody. I strongly believe her intentions were to trick me in order to prolong our case and require me to continue paying her attorney fees. To this day I am frightened and disturbed that she had given me such improper counsel. I am not sure if it had to do with Ms. Farook possibly being prejudice, as I am African American, but her advice was so untrue and potentially so detrimental to my case that it left me wondering if she had some preconcieved bias against me. After discussing her actions with her supervisor and firing her from the case, I was able to get a restraining order on my abuser without even having an attorney. My abuser had hired an attorney to defend himself from the charges but I still defeated him and his attorney in court. He is now facing criminal charges for child abuse and I have full custody of our child. This proves how crooked and malicious some attorneys really can be. Had I kept my mouth shut about the domestic violence and not gotten a restraining order, my child may have been put in an abusive situation with my ex, who was physically abusing my child and I. I thank God that I trusted my gut rather than the misguidence of Ms. Farook. Do yourself a favor, hire a different attorney, and always double check any suspicious advice they give you. There are many great resources online like womenslaw.org that can help domestic violence victims like myself. I fear for other victims who may trust her fast talking as a sign of intelligence, it is truly just to impress you and blur the legal reality of the situation. Especially if you are a domestic violence victim, do not hire this attorney, as she may sabotage your case by guiding you in the wrong direction and giving you untrue legal advice. Thank God I had better judgement than to trust Ms. Farook, she could have potentially put my child in danger.

Outstanding

I retained Ms farook last minute and since I've had very bad prior experiences with attorneys I was skeptical. But Ms Farook is outstanding, attentive, thorough, kind and honest. My case is far from over and a few more court appearances may be necessary, but at least I know I can rely on her 110% a...nd be by my side during a stressful time. She doesn't tell you what you want to hear, she tells you what is rational and realistic. Bravo Ms Farook and thank you!
