My experience with Attorney David Taub left me extremely disappointed and questioning whether the fees I paid were reasonable and proportionate to the legal services I received. When I retained David, my understanding was that his hourly rate was $550. I later discovered that I was being billed $6...50 per hour. Altogether, I paid more than $7,000 involving an ex parte hearing and another court appearance, yet I personally did not feel the amount of substantive legal work or the results justified what I was charged. One issue that especially concerned me involved the preparation of my documents. After I expressed frustration about how much I had already spent, David asked what would help resolve my concerns. I explained that since I had already paid significant fees for my paperwork to be reviewed, I expected it to be organized into something useful for my upcoming proceedings. I was then surprised to receive additional charges involving preparation of a declaration. There were also billing entries that I found difficult to understand. At one court appearance, David told me I was fortunate because he was already at that courthouse. That made certain travel-related billing I later questioned especially confusing. I have repeatedly requested a clear, simplified, itemized accounting explaining exactly what I paid, what the individual charges represented, what funds remained, and whether any refund or adjustment is due. In my opinion, obtaining straightforward answers about billing should not be this difficult, particularly when an attorney is charging a premium hourly rate. I understand that attorneys deserve to be compensated for legitimate professional services. My concern is the transparency, proportionality, accountability, and overall value of the services I received. At $650 per hour, I expected exceptional communication, preparation, professional diligence, and billing transparency. That was not my experience. I am sharing this as my personal experience so that prospective clients can ask detailed questions about hourly rates, billing practices, document preparation, travel charges, and exactly what services are included before retaining the firm. I am still waiting for my billing concerns to be fully addressed. If David and his office provide a satisfactory explanation or resolution, I will update my review to accurately reflect the outcome.
