We explained to his appointed conflict-panel attorney that the issue happened during COVID and my brother had been released at that time. When we appeared in court, the judge simply called his name, said “parole violation,” and took him into custody with no bail. We were shocked. We were given another court date 30 days later for sentencing. During those 30 days, I tried repeatedly to reach the public defender and was told to contact the same conflict-panel attorney — but his website was down, there was no email, and his voicemail was full.
