Be careful

I retained Mr. Hornak for my divorce and the custody of my children. Because his partner retired, he did all the work himself. He is extremely unorganized, and it took him a good 4-6 weeks just to file after retained. I had to contantly call an email him to get things done, which still never did. I ...informed Hornak about things that were happening, in regards to the children, and he continually told me to take notes for trial. I retained a new attorney after getting nowhere with Hornak, and being with him for 9 months, I now have sole custody of my children, and my divorce is finally final. I felt like a moron in front of the judge when I was asked why it took so long to bring certain issues to the table, but I in fact had notified Mr. Hornak and he did nothing. He just told me to take notes. He took my money, I never saw a billing statement, and did nothing to help me or my children. I do not recommend him what so ever.

Not Worth The Money!

He seemed great at first then it turned to overwhelmed. He rarely responds to emails, doesn't stick to the price he says (be ready to pay double what he quotes you) and he doesn't even win in court. If you want to spend every dime you have on a lawyer who just takes your money and still makes you do ...all the work just to lose, he is the one for you! One more thing those emails and phone calls be prepared to pay thousands for them.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
