Gregory Scott Duckworth

I am a integral member of the Civil Division of Soda & Greenberg is Gregory S. Duckworth, Esq., a litigator with forty years of courtroom experience. Mr. I graduated from Cal State University, Fullerton majoring in Political Science. His law degree was obtained from Western State University College of Law.

I began my legal career in Orange County, gaining valuable courtroom experience and defense insights with insurance defense firms. I soon went out on my own as lead counsel with Duckworth & Boehm, serving as general counsel for a large real estate company, defending and litigating on their behalf.

Soon, I relocated to San Diego where the bulk of my civil litigation career evolved. As an associate with Thomas Miller & Associates, I gained valuable experience representing plaintiff homeowners, plaintiff homeowner Associations and related professionals in litigating complex, multiparty lawsuits against developers, partnerships and individuals for substantial defects in the construction of homes, buildings, homeowner association property and related common areas.

Once again, Mr. Duckworth ventured out on his own with Law offices of Gregory Duckworth and, eventually, Duckworth & Sioss, Attorneys, representing individual plaintiff homeowners and homeowner associations in similar complex, large multiparty litigation, primarily in the construction defect arena, but also dealing with other related real estate matters, title issues, broker misrepresentation,transactional fraud, and contractual disputes throughout California. I also continually pursued and represented plaintiffs in serious personal injury matters, including medical malpractice.

In the course of my litigation career, I've represented and managed literally hundreds of plaintiffs in their lawsuits from inception; including depositions, percipient witnesses depositions, expert depositions, all manners of written discovery, on-site destructive and forensic testing, law & motion, Special Master hearings, alternative dispute resolution processes including arbitration, mediation, pre-trial preparation and trial. With offices both in San Diego and Sacramento, I managed and supervised extremely large civil case loads while ensuring highly satisfactory individual outcomes for his varied clients.

Further, as mediation tends to be a large part of any practitioner's experience, I'm also certified as a Mediator with the National Association of Certified Mediators. I've served on the Mediation panel of the Palm Springs Board of Realtors. I remain active in the local real estate industry by maintaining his license as a active Real Estate Broker with the California Bureau of Real Estate and is a member of the California Association of Realtors. He is also a member of the Desert Bar Association. I've taught Civil Procedure as an adjunct professor of law and also has a California Community Colleges teaching credential (lifetime) in both law and real estate. This background has greatly assisted me in mentoring younger attorneys in the skills of litigation.

Finally, I am a Honorably Discharged veteran of the armed forces, a former Marine, decorated while serving with combat ground forces in Vietnam. The values and integrity instilled by my service in the Marines remain an important facet to his character and his dedication to my legal career to this day.
