Although the system provides very few rights to defend yourself against such a case, Megan was very thorough and creative in helping me explore every option available. Naturally, the judge dismissed it and awarded the formula amount, but this seems to happen to almost everyone. She was able to get one-off amounts successfully excluded from my income and allowance credit for my at-that-time unborn child which helped mitigate some of the damage.
