Erika N. Foster

Erika Foster is an attorney and certified mediator who focuses her practice on family and employment law matters.  The family law issues that she addresses in her practice include divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, spousal support, property and asset division and premarital and marital agreements.  She also addresses employment law issues, which include employment and severance agreements, discrimination, harassment and wrongful termination claims, employee handbooks and general employment law counseling.  

Before becoming a solo practitioner, Ms. Foster worked for several years at one of the nation’s top law firms, where she advised Fortune 500 companies and their executives on employment law issues in connection with executive compensation and benefits, employee hirings and terminations, complex transactions and day-to-day human resource administration.  After starting a family of her own, she chose to expand the scope of her practice to include family law and mediation in order to help individuals and couples navigate the stresses and complexities associated with family law issues. 

As a mediator, Ms. Foster assists parties in reaching a voluntary and mutually beneficial settlement outside of the adversarial environment of the courtroom.  She is able to bring a neutral perspective, her knowledge of the law and multiple, facilitative tools to assist the parties in overcoming any impasses or difficulties in communication. 

As an attorney, she advocates for the best interests of her individual clients.  Where appropriate, she assists them in achieving an expedited and cost-effective resolution through detailed case assessment, mediation or negotiated settlement.  When a case is highly contested or where settlement is inappropriate, she is able to take the case the distance.
