Aggressively Passionate Family Attorney

This amazing attorney, Shana Black, represented me while I was a single mom of two. My case originally started with the Dept of Child Support Services, and after many failed attempts to modify my support, I contacted her. She was able to get my support increased, and was impressively passionate in ...the courtrooom about my case, and we were able to establish a visitation between my kids and the non-custodial parent that was effective and has since flourished. She returns all calls, emails and is flexible in regards to personal appointments. The best attorney I've ever had the pleasure of knowing and working with.

Divorce

She let my husband paint me as a criminal cheater mistake from the past woman in our temporary alimony court she took the blame for my husband not turning over his Income documents while under oath,When in fact he had never turned his documents over at . Seven months later she still hasn’t provided a...ny income documents .Let the judge based decision on my alimony with no clue Of his was net worth,Nor did she show the proof of how I’m accustomed to living before the judge based his decision on my alimony because with $7000 off my alimony payments. After I fired her She went and picked up his income documents rather than let my new attorney who she has not provided any of my information or paperwork to pick the papers up now she’s holding them claiming to make copies To save me money is her reason Now she’s claiming to have the flu and I still two weeks later have not received any of my legal documents to my other attorney

Irresponsible and mental torture caused by hiring Shana

I though I was going through my worst when the divorce came onto me. Shana seemed very friendly, talking about her single mother and woman issues that made me trust her. I then read yelp reviews and openly discussed the negative reviews about her and she assured that it was a bad client who did n...ot get the judgement in their favor. I decided to give her a try due to her enthusiasm and myself being a woman, I wanted to have hope in another person. She started with a bang and became unresponsiveness with reasons of illness, daughter etc etc. by the end of my second deposit to her and about 3 months into the case, she wound not respond to my phones, emails for weeks, then months. It was a torture. real torture waiting for a response. worse I had moved to Seattle so I paid around sis expensive tickets to fly down and meet her on her slightest appt set up week but there was no show up. she would suddenly be quiet them for another long time. By end of 7 months into the case, I realized the torture and game she was playing. I finally appeared to the court myself and asked her to quit from the case. She is the worst lawyer. I have worked with @ 6-8 lawyers on different issues, like work, property, IRS etc, but she is real crappy. CRAPPY AND VERY IRRESPONSIBLE. She does not understand ethics and is giving me a hard time to return my huge deposit she has now with her.

The Worst Experience

The absolute worst divorce attorney. I relied upon the reviews posted online and speaking with Ms. Black before hiring her and it was a mistake. I will begin with the bait/switch of a car salesperson. Someone that hooks you in with lengthy phone calls and an initial meeting and then doesn't bother re...plying or following up after you've paid the retainer. You receive no monthly accounting statements to reflect what services you've paid. My ex and I have been amicable and settled everything neatly, however Ms. Black is pre-occupied with her personal life (which is what she wrote me in an email) that she won't return phone calls, emails or respond for months at a time. One of the most painful times of your life should be made easier by a licensed/paid attorney. In Ms. Black's case, it is not. I have spoken with three other clients of Ms. Black's who testify to the same treatment. This person should not be practicing law if she discriminates against clients by choosing which ones she responds to and those to disregard. I would rather have my money back and move on to someone else who really has their clients best interest in mind.

Ammended Divorce

I went to court in Sept 2010, and flew from Illinois to California for court. I have YET to receive any new paperwork for me to sign for my new ammended decree. Shana was also supposed to get in contact with me directly after the hearing to start a child support agreement. It has been four months ...and I have YET to hear from my lawyer. I have tried calling, emailing, and texting her to no result. I paid her a substatiantal amount of money for her to do NOTHING for me.

"I have seen Attorney Shana Black argue her cases in court, and I would want her on my side if I was ever in court. She is very well versed in divorce and family law, and finds weaknesses in the arguments of opposing counsel. Her work ethic in the office is exceptional as well - she is hard working, honest, and aggressive. She loves to win cases for her clients. I have made numerous client referrals to Shana Black."
