also known as Erik L. P. Johnson, Erik Johnson
Erik Johnson was raised in Orange County, California, and has lived in a diverse array of communities all over the world – including the Central Valley (Fresno); Dallas, Texas; the Bay Area (Berkeley); Lake Tahoe; and several communities throughout Los Angeles; and has spent time living and studying in both Sweden and England (London).
After high school, Erik attended the University of California, at Berkeley (2000-2004), earning a business degree (B.S.) and graduating with High Honors from the Walter A. Haas School of Business (consistently ranked as one of the top three undergraduate business programs in the country by the U.S. News & World Report). Throughout college, Erik competed as a freestyle skier and snowboarder in the Lake Tahoe area, and also served as a member and Team Officer of the U.C. Berkeley Snowboard Team.
After college, Erik went on to pursue a law degree (J.D.) at the Pepperdine School of Law (2005-2008). During law school, Erik participated on Pepperdine’s respected Dispute Resolution Journal (DRJ), and is currently pursuing a Masters in Dispute Resolution (MDR) from Pepperdine’s prestigious Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution (consistently ranked the #1 program in the country by the U.S. News & World Report). Throughout law school, Erik focused primarily on business law, earning high grades in courses such as corporations, real estate finance, mergers and acquisitions, trademarks and copyright. Additionally, during his second year of law school, Erik was selected to participate in an externship and summer associate program with Countrywide Management Corporation, during which time he worked side-by-side top corporate executives and in-house counsel on an extensive company-wide reorganization project.
After graduating from law school, Erik took and passed the 2008 California State Bar exam, and was admitted to practice law that same year. After passing the State bar, Erik began working as an associate attorney for firms in Orange County and Los Angeles. However, after practicing law for three years, Erik came to realize he could better serve his clients by opening his own practice, and specializing in areas of law in which he had particular knowledge and interest. During this same time, Erik became increasingly aware of his personal interests in the community and culture of Los Angeles (such as conservation efforts in Malibu and Los Angeles’ South Bay communities, the growing efforts to revitalize the Downtown arts movement, and the ongoing efforts to encourage investment in Downtown commercial real estate), as well as his escalating desire not only to become uniquely [and permanently] invested in the Los Angeles area, but also to use his skills and training to give back to this community. Therefore, Erik resolved to open his own practice, devoted to serving the unique needs of clients living in and around the City of Angeles. In January 2011, Erik opened The E. Johnson Law Firm to achieve these goals.
Currently, Erik lives in San Diego and works with clients throughout Southern California. Erik is particularly focused on business and real estate law, and is currently in the process of developing a niche practice area assisting entrepreneurs in the creation of restaurants and bars. Erik is an avid surfer, skier and snowboarder, and also enjoys hiking, rock climbing, camping and traveling.
