Creditor Who Was Defrauded

Chris has a passion for helping people on both sides of a bankruptcy. I hired him because after our first phone conversation and in person consultation, I could tell he truly cares about the work he does and helping his clients through their personal financial crises. I was a creditor who was defrau...ded by a trusted business associate who tried to use bankruptcy to get out of his debt. Chris was representing another client at a bankruptcy proceeding when he overheard me attempting to ask a debtor about assets I felt he was concealing to settle his debt to me. After the court proceeding, Chris told me that he doesn't normally cold call people at bankruptcy court, but he reached out to me based on what he heard me asking in the court. He felt that I may have a chance to fight the discharge of a $16K debt owed to me by the person declaring bankruptcy, based on fraud. When I initially had to decide which legal route to sue this person for what they owed me (civil or small claims), I consulted with a few other lawyers who told me that based on what I was owed, hiring a lawyer for a civil case would not be worth the expense. They all said I had a case, and advised that I sue in small claims because they would be too expensive for how much I would be suing for. I filed a small claims suit but before we went to court, the person started the bankruptcy process to discharge his debts. This is when I met Chris, at the first debtors hearing where creditors can also appear. When he reached out to me, I explained my situation in depth and he explained the Adversarial Proceedings process to me. When we met in person, he spent over an hour, explaining in more detail what I needed to prove in order to show fraud to help me decide how sure I was that I could satisfy each element before I paid him to move forward with the complaint. He paid attention to what my goals were for this complaint, he paid attention to what my financial limits were and he was able to meet my goal of stopping the debt discharge based on fraud, within the budget that I had. Before I hired Chris, the most I was going to be able to possibly collect out of a $18K fraudulently obtained loan, was $10K from small claims court, if I won. If the person had been able to discharge the $16K he said he owed me, I would have been able to collect nothing. Now, I can collect $16K, plus 10% interest. Thanks Chris!

Highly Recommended!!

Chris has a wealth of knowledge, was compassionate and supportive in easing our nerves about the process by spelling out in detail what to expect at every turn. He was so thorough in walking us through any possible outcome and preparing us either way, we felt our bankruptcy went as smooth and easy a...s something this stressful could. Would highly recommend Chris to anyone seeking support, diligence and comprehensive legal services for bankruptcy and all its challenges.
