13. NO ADVICE REGARDING THIS FEE AGREEMENT: We are not acting as your counsel with respect to this agreement... That's from her retainer agreement. Apparently, you need another lawyer to advise you before signing Ivette as your lawyer. Before she's your lawyer, she's a sales person. Ivette i...s a good salesperson. She gives a great first impression. She seems caring and sharp. But remember, she's a salesperson before she's your lawyer. You will pay for notary services and filing fees. It's there in the retainer but she won't say anything about it--because she's a salesperson not your lawyer until you sign it. For my mom and dads trust those fees added up to another $450. The county rejected the recording of my parents home into the trust. In her words, "not because anything was done incorrectly on my end." And it was a "common issue". If it was a common issue, then why didn't she foresee it? I looked over the revised doc and saw my dad's name was misspelled. I asked if she was willing to pay for the notary service because of her not anticipating the "common issue" and misspelling my dads name (my guess that's the real reason it was rejected). Nope. Instead, she blamed my 80 year old mom-- who can't see--for not catching the misspelling. When the county did accept the second attempt I got the bill and the bill ($103) did not match the price shown on the deed ($23). I asked about the discrepancy and she lawyer talked saying third-party, can't show you the proof because other clients info... blah blah. Pretty much saying "trust me bro." I don't. But I paid it because I want to be done dealing with her. Did she get the job done? Yes. Is it done right? Probably--I'll find out when I have to use it. Does she do shady business practices? In my opinion, very much so. I do not recommend. Find someone that includes all those fees in their price and is upfront about those things. You shouldn't need a lawyer to consult you before signing up with a lawyer.
