Experienced Attorney

I practiced law with Ryan at the same firm in Montana and was constantly impressed by his brilliance, confidence, and his ability to listen and reason. I proudly watched him argue, and win, a case in front of the Montana Supreme Court that resulted in further protections for defendants rights. Ryan i...s an experienced attorney who isn't afraid to pursue issues or go to trial and will put in the effort to passionately represent his clients.

"I've known Ryan Peabody personally and professionally for about a decade. He is among the top few lawyers I consult about complicated criminal defense and DUI defense matters. He has an uncommonly keen and innate sense of the United States Constitution and applies it, often creatively, to his clients' advantage. His criminal law practice across the Western states has sharpened his ability to think outside the box. As an example of his deep insight, legal entrepreneurship and courage, he single-handedly took on Montana's unconstitutional practice of denying speedy criminal trials to a large swath of criminal defendants. He argued the case in front of the Montana Supreme Court and convinced them to put a stop to this abhorrent practice. Understated about it though he may be, Ryan was also the first attorney in the state of California, since the 1960's, to convince a judge that blood drawn from his client's arm without a warrant was unconstitutional. I endorse him."

Relationship: Co-worker

"It was my pleasure to work with Ryan in the Office of the Santa Barbara County Defender. He is tenacious, creative and always focused on getting the best result for his clients. He was the first lawyer in California to win a McNeely Motion, suppressing the results of a DUI blood test as an illegal Search & Seizure violating the 4th Amendment. That trail blazing lawyering is reason alone to hire him. He showed the way for hundreds of DUI lawyers in CA to litigate that issue. When he left the Santa Barbara County Public Defender he continued that innovative lawyering. I had the pleasure of watching him make a winning argument to the Montana State Supreme Court challenging the Constitutionality of a law that imposed a waiver of the right to jury trial when the client failed to appear ("FTA") at a pre-trial conference. You cannot go wrong by hiring Ryan to represent you on any criminal charge. He thrives on going to trial if the DA will not be reasonable."
