In 2014, Robert graduated law school. He was admitted to the California Bar in 2014 and the New York and New Jersey Bars in 2015. Robert currently volunteers at Legal Aid in the Low Income Tax Clinic where he helps low-income families navigate IRS rules and, when necessary, assist them with their tax disputes. Robert is also a volunteer attorney and founding member of the Public Interest Advocacy Clinic which assists pro bono and low bono clients in a variety of controversies against the county and state.
Robert has worked a myriad of jobs covering general civil litigation, tax controversies, and criminal defense. He clerked with the San Diego Public Defenders where he defended clients at all stages of litigation from bail hearings to jury trials. In his civil work, Robert was a part of a team that recovered a seven-figure judgment from a major financial institution for banking fraud. He also helped recover a large settlement on behalf of a former police officer who suffered a career-ending injury. Robert also volunteered at the University of San Diego’s Sales and Use Tax Clinic. While at the Clinic he represented two clients before the Tax Court, won an appeal against the State that granted a client full forgiveness for tax penalties and successfully negotiated a settlement for two other clients.
In 2010, Robert graduated cum laude from California State University, Long Beach double majoring in Political Science and Chinese. He co-founded the first UNICEF chapter on the campus which ran several fundraisers and community outreach programs. Robert continued his education at the University of San Diego, School of Law earning his J.D. with a concentration in International Law. While in law school Robert received academic honors and several awards and recognitions for his pro bono and public service work.
