Attorney L. Marcel Stewart is a native of the East Bay Area of California. He earned his Bachelor's of Arts in Political Science in 1997 from the University of California at Davis and his J.D. from Howard University School of Law in 2001. Upon graduating from law school, Marcel joined a major law firm in Washington, D.C. where he practiced business litigation. Subsequently, he joined the Civil Division, Torts Branch of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. where he worked on the "Tobacco Litigation Case," wherein the United States sued American and foreign tobacco companies.
From 2005 to 2008, Marcel served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of California where he prosecuted a variety of federal criminal offenses. In January 2008, Marcel left the United States Attorney's Office to open the Law Offices of L. Marcel Stewart. Although his main practice areas are federal and state criminal defense, civil rights and personal injury, he also handles other types of matters.
