About me

Lonny works with employers to find practical, cost-effective strategies to their workforce problems. Lonny has broad experience resolving potentially explosive employment law issues before they escalate. Clients rely on Lonny's creative strategies to solve complex employment matters within the framework of their business goals, with the primary goal of avoiding lawsuits.

Lonny advises clients on a broad range of employment issues, such as complying with anti-discrimination and harassment laws, including the Fair Employment and Housing Act, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, wage and hour compliance, and enforcement of agreements to protect trade secrets.  Lonny also drafts and analyzes a variety of employment and independent contractor agreements; develops and implements personnel policies and procedures; provides advice on hiring, firing, and managing employees; conducts internal harassment, whistleblower, and misconduct investigations; conducts management trainings and defends discrimination claims before state and federal administrative agencies.

Lonny also has an active litigation practice, and has significant experience defending employers in wage and hour class action lawsuits and has represented companies in a variety of cases involving unfair competition, misappropriation of trade secrets, and public accommodation of disability discrimination claims.

Lonny is a frequent invited lecturer and trainer on many employment law topics, and has been a faculty member for over ten years at UCSD Extension's Leadership and Management Program.  Lonny is a former member of the Executive Committee of the State Bar of California's Labor & Employment Section.  In 2007, Lonny was honored by San Diego Metropolitan magazine as one of San Diego’s Top 40 Under 40, recognizing his professional and civic accomplishments.  Since 2009, Lonny has been voted by his peers as one of the Top Employment Attorneys in San Diego by the San Diego Daily Transcript.  And since 2010 has been recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyer, an honor given to just the top 5% of attorneys in Southern California.  Lonny has also attained Martindale Hubbell's top "AV" rating in both professional ability and ethics.
