John J. Rice

Received a reckless driving ticket for 89/55 coupled with a radar detector ticket (device was not in use, but in the vehicle on the floor of the passenger side). I needed help and found John on Google. I tried him out and was happy I did. John really knows his stuff, gave me a list of things to ge...t him or get done before the court date and on the day of my hearing, the result was CASE DISMISSED. Not even reduced to speeding...completely dismissed, no points, no fines, no court fees, nothing. Couldn't have been happier with the result. I hop e in the future i will never need to use Jonh again, but if I do, there is no other attorney i would look to. John's the man :)

Our 18 year old son was leaving a party with a group of friends and one of them made a pit stop to relieve himself behind a bush. What we did not anticipate, however, was the profound impact Mr. Rice would have on our child's life. This very busy attorney made our son feel like he was his only client. He spent hours talking to him about life, priorities, choices, and a host of other things that were beyond the scope of the case. After these discussions we saw a marked change in our son's performance at CNU. His grades improved, he became far more serious about his studies, and he began to make choices that led to a more balanced life. The leftover senioritis is gone and we now have a focused, motivated man instead of a socially successful academic slacker. I never thought I would look upon a public urination charge as a good thing in my child's life, but since it was what connected our son to the influence of John Rice, I can actually say I'm glad it happened just as it did. If Mr. Rice ever tires of his day job, he has another successful career waiting for him on the college lecture circuit motivating 18 year olds.

I needed some help from out of state (CA) and found John on google. After speaking with a few lawyers from Newport News, the choice was clear...John was the most knowledgable and he was reasonably priced. After John took a lot of time with me, to get the details of my case, he took care of my arraign...ment so that I didn't have to travel back to CA for that part. Between arraignment and trial he worked hard to get the arresting officer and/or states attorney to dismiss the case; the arresting officer was making him self scarce, so this was proving to be difficult. The day before the trial he managed to track down the arresting officer, and John got the officer to agree to a charge of "nolle prosequi", which is essentially a dismissal. Sure enough, the next day in court, John and the arresting officer met with the states attorney and I walked away a free man with no fines or court fees! After my brief trial, John and I sat around and chatted for about a half hour. Overall, I had great experience, both working with John and getting to know him. Newport News will lose a great defense attorney when John retires.
