Denny represented me back in the '80s when he was first starting out when I was going through a divorce and trying to get child support. He was on the ball. I hired him 2 years ago to represent me in a grandparent visitation case to which he came to court unprepared. I paid a $5,000 retainer and a...fter losing in court I was told I had a refund coming back to me which I never received. I've called his office numerous times, have sent numerous emails to which all have been ignored. I have requested an itemized bill and have never received that either. Do yourself a favor and hire a different attorney. I have placed a formal complaint with the CA Bar Association to see if I have an recourse in getting an itemized bill. Be careful who you hire, do your research before handing over your hard earned money.

My wife and I hired Denny in January 2013 to represent her in family court against her ex husband who was trying to chase her down for medical payments owed for their three kids. Denny told us initially that the case should cost about $5000, but he knew the lawyers we were squaring off against and th...ey "liked to bury everything in paperwork", so our retainer was $10,000. I paid this, and we directed Denny to fire off subpoenas to get the insurance documentation required to prove the fraud we know was happening on the ex-husband's part, but these were either improperly filed or never filed at all - to date we have never gotten the documents in question. Denny and his team did very little - we did the majority of the research and documentation ourselves, all he did was the filing really. When the court date came, he failed to bring up all of the reasons why the plaintiff's demands were not legal or feasible, and we lost the case. Then the bills arrived to the tune of $24,000 plus for a simple family court case where he did nearly no work. THERE WAS NEVER A SINGLE NOTIFICATION THAT WE HAD EXCEEDED OUR RETAINER. When asked, he said he would correct the problem, but never did. I went and made special payment arrangements to make our total $17,000, Denny was going to write off the remainder. This time I got it in writing up front, but even after we made the expected payments the statements didn't show the corrected information. Multiple emails to Denny's office and his assistants went unanswered. Months of trying to get the final information on the case went unanswered. To date, Denny still has not completed the case to any satisfaction, and I'm considering a lawsuit against him for breach of duty. Denny proved to be negligent in so many ways that it harmed our case. Based on this evidence I cannot in good conscience recommend to anyone to hire Mr. Kershek for representation.
