I met Mr. Shirley in his office for an initial "free" consultation. At the end of the conversation, he had me sign a retainer for several thousand dollars. Upon leaving his office, I immediately had second thoughts. The retainer had an exit clause to allow me to cancel the agreement within 30 days.... I cancelled the very next morning. I asked for my refund on numerous occasions without a response. I finally had to call the credit card company to try to claim my money back. I found out later the attorney is attempting to bill me $1400 worth of "services" he supposedly performed right after I left his office. I received no value from this attorney other than aggravation.

He set realistic expectations and delivered phenomenal results. My mind was a mess when I started this case, not having any clue of what... I was getting into. He explained the strategies he would use to accomplish our goals, which made me feel a whole lot better. As soon as I hired him, he went to work right away. They notified my ex by phone, that he was filling for an emergency temporary custody order. He advised me on what resources to gather to start building my case and what not to do while during the case. Each time we went to court, he pushed until we accomplished what we were asking for. With my daughters being so young (2 & 4 years old), we even had to hire a 3rd party psychologist (all part of the plan). The way he presented this was genius, he managed to get the opposing attorney to suggest the psychologist we had actually wanted to perform the evaluation. Mr. Shirley knew, that by going through this process, everything that was not being told by my ex would ultimately surface. During this evaluation (4 months) he even sent letters to the opposing attorney when my ex was not following visitation orders, to document everything. The final evaluation report came back favorable and the court weighed heavy on the recommendations from the psychologist. Once custody was granted, he then pushed for child support. In my opinion he presented a stronger case, than the opposing party, and fought harder for me. Of course, I had many questions during the process, so I would call or email him questions and he would always call me back no matter what time it was, to put me at ease. I highly recommend Stephen Shirley for family law, with over 45 years of experience he's seen it all and knows everyone in the court system by first name. Thank you Mr. Shirley
