Best Patent Attorney for Engineering and Material Science Fields

I used to work in Corporate R&D of a Fortune 500 company. My field was polymer and surface sciences. My focus was new product and new business development. I was the inventor or co-inventor of more than 20 patents that were issued to the company. Now, being an independent inventor and consultant in... the industry, I need to work with a patent attorney to file patent applications myself. I was extremely happy that I found Mr. Che-Yang Chen. Mr. Chen has filed a provisional patent application for me and is preparing the full application at this time. In my opinion, there are four aspects of Mr. Chen that makes him very special as a patent attorney for me. (1) He has a strong technical background: Before becoming a patent attorney, Mr. Chen had a degree in Chemical Engineering. He understood the technical aspects of my invention thoroughly. He quickly appreciated the merit of the invention and suggested the best approach to protect it. (2) The communication with him is always clear: Mr. Chen returns phone calls and emails promptly. He is willing to spend time with me to refine the patentable features of the invention. He responded very quickly to my need of searching prior arts. (3) He is a good patent writer: With his technical background and several years of corporate patent attorney experience, Mr. Chen delivers patent writing in a concise yet thorough manner. His writing in the field of my invention is superior. (4) He is a responsible attorney: Mr. Chen let me know the timeline and the requirements of filing a patent application clearly. He reviews my application and let me know when more data would be needed to support the patent application. I have a good feeling that I am in good hands. One more important benefit of working with Mr. Chen: The fee that Mr. Chen charges is very reasonable. With a fraction of the cost, he gave me a superior patent application. I would recommend Mr. Chen to anyone as a patent attorney without reservation.

Great Patent Lawyer! Highly recommend!

I know Mike through my friend's referral. At the beginning, I was a little worried since I used to have my cases handled by big firm attorneys. Since I worked with Mike, I believe that even a solo practitioner can do a wonderful job. Mike is a professional and smart patent attorney and he learn new s...tuff and catches up ideas very quickly even in the area he first heard of. He helped us establish a very good patent portfolio and he works like our in-house patent counsel. Also, Mike is very friendly and accessible. Unlike big firm attorneys, he responded my emails or calls shortly. I highly recommend Mike!
