Best attorney I’ve hired

I hired Tom McColl to help me with my Domestic Violence trial, he was great support the whole way, responding and guiding me. I highly recommend him to anyone who could use the help in court. He is very knowledgeable and walked in feeling ready. I couldn’t have done this without him representing me.

DO NOT HIRE THIS LAWYER! COMPLETE SCAM AND WASTE OF MONEY.

— DO NOT HIRE THIS LAWYER! COMPLETE SCAM AND WASTE OF MONEY. I hired Tom McColl to help me during one of the most painful, dangerous, and emotionally devastating times of my life—my Domestic Violence Restraining Order (DVRO) case. What I got instead was a lazy, negative, unprepared man who took my... money and did NOTHING to help me. He showed up to court without knowing anything about my case. I paid him good money—money I didn’t have to waste as a struggling mother—but he didn’t study my file, didn’t ask meaningful questions, and worst of all, gave me zero strategy or hope. Every time I spoke to him, he was negative, discouraging, and even insulting. He acted like I was already going to lose, like my story didn’t matter, like I was a burden. How can a DV victim feel safe and confident when their own lawyer is working against them? Tom McColl is not an advocate. He is a scammer who doesn’t care about justice or your safety. All he cares about is your check. Once you pay him, he disappears. When it matters most, he won’t show up prepared—and he will make YOU feel like the problem. Please, if you are vulnerable, if you’re fighting for your child or your life, DO NOT hire this man. He is emotionally abusive, lazy, and harmful. I regret ever trusting him. I had to do everything pro se because my own attorney became another obstacle in my search for justice.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
