This review is from a person who hired this attorney.

Very disappointed with estates services

This is what we wrote to Zane and his legal firm Lewitt Hackman to My Brother and I hired you and your law firm based on a recommendation, your long tenure as a trust attorney, and your law firm's size and experience. We are very dissatisfied with our engagement with you and are firing you as our t...rust lawyer. Our primary grievance is that you did not listen to our questions and concerns and did not provide useful, timely, or clear information. Our dissatisfaction mostly stems from our questions to you about the break-in into the condominium by The Pipers and that we do not have a verified list of the items that were stolen. We asked you directly what we should do to approach this issue. You indicated to us that this was a case worth pursuing but offered no concrete plan or any estimates of cost. You gave us vague answers but never answered our basic questions even though we asked you three separate times including our initial August 6 telephone call and my August 29 meeting in your office. We found that some items you discussed in meeting were not needed, or a repeat of what was already you said during past paid-time calls. The writing of the letter to the Pipers to return stolen items accomplished little significant value. After our August 29 meeting, we hired and paid a second trust litigation lawyer to get a clear answer because you did not provide clear answers to our questions or guidance that we had faith in. Per our discussion with this lawyer, Probate court cannot assign a value to what was stolen without a detailed list of assets stolen and the verified values. The cost to go to Probate court is very high. The attorney said there is very little chance of any success in Probate court for our case. These were the questions we asked you very clearly and were key to us choosing an attorney. You did not provide clear guidance to us as I would have expected for our attorney. Why did we have to pay another lawyer $500 an hour (only 1 hour) to get a clear answer when we are paying you $800 an hour, and not getting good legal advice? We are extremely disappointed with our interactions with you and your law firm. We did not receive valuable legal advice compared to how much time we were billed. We plan to note our disappointment known in appropriate places.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
