I've hired Bill on a few occasions, initially on the recommendation of friends. The best thing about Bill (other than the affordability of his services & willingness to take payments, which really helps!) is that he LISTENS! I am an armchair attorney, and THINK I know a thing or two about the law. Bi...ll patiently listens to my ideas & theories about possible defenses and ways to handle a case, and takes the time to explore them, whenever they are plausible, or explains to me why they are not. He has a lot of patience with me, and allows me to feel as though I am participating in the case for which I'm paying him, like I have had some measure of influence in the outcome. He also will answer legal questions for me free of charge whenever I call, probably because I've hired him a number of times, and sent PLENTY of clients his way over the years.
Here's an example of Bill's work (for me, anyhow): A couple of years ago, I hired him to represent my boyfriend (who has SIX PRIORS for Grand Theft Auto and Driving Without The Owner's Consent) in a Vehicular Burglary case. I knew my boyfriend was innocent of this charge, and there had merely been a misunderstanding. He was switching vehicles with a friend, and got into the wrong vehicle! The true owner of the vehicle arrived on the scene, and was completely understanding of how this mistake had been made, even HELPED my boyfriend move his belongings BACK into his vehicle. Unfortunately, the overly enthusiastic security guard for the parking garage ha already called the police. I explained to Bill that the wrong charge had been filed against my boyfriend, that no vehicular burglary had taken place...my boyfriend had not removed ANYTHING from the vehicle. He had, in fact, put HIS belongings into it! Bill quickly plead the case down to a misdemeanor Tampering With A Vehicle and got community service for him!
May I repeat: Bill got a 6-time convicted car thief, who got caught inside a vehicle that did not belong to him, COMMUNITY SERVICE! It was nothing short of miraculous!
Bill also had a clever wit about him; a wickedly funny and dry sense of humor. A lot of people don't know this, but Bill used to write for the Weekly World News. Not that it has any bearing on his abilities as an attorney, but the levity he provides is nice when you're in the midst of an otherwise stressful situation. You could say that he has a good bedside manner, except I guess it would be a "bench-side" manner! More relevant to his legal abilities, though, Bill also used to represent the Federal Aviation Administration.
I recommend Bill to everyone I know who find themselves in a legal quandary. With the high cost of legal representation these days, Bill's fees are refreshingly affordable, and like I said earlier, he is willing to work out a payment plan with his clients which makes it even more so. Perhaps it's because I've known Bill for a number of years, and I have a good history of making good on my debt, but he has started a case; appeared in court, that is, for as little as $250 down!!! Nowhere in the State of California in the 21st Century are you going to find an attorney who will appear in court for you for that small of an amount of money down. NOWHERE!
So rather than be at the mercy of some public defender who has 100 case files piled up on their desk, has to read your name off the file because they don't KNOW your name OR your face, is only going to meet with you to discuss your case for 5 minutes right before you have to appear before the judge, and is ready to take the first deal offered just so they can get another file cleared off their desk as quickly as possible, hire Bill instead. It's worth it just to get the extra 2% off the bail amount alone! Not to mention you'll get personalized service from an attorney who listens, and can ocassionally pull a miracle out of his hat!
I'd recommend Bill to anyone. He's a good attorney (and a good guy) at a good price.
