I was retained to represent client on a DMV Financial Responsibility matter (ie. Accident with no insurance, his insurance was canceled as he unknowingly missed a payment). Client had been speaking w ... ith several other attorneys over the course of a month who all agreed that he had no shot of winning the hearing and he should accept that he was going to lose his driver license for one year. Client is a commercial driver so losing his license for a year means he is out of work for a year. After talking to the client I informed him that I disagreed with the other attorneys, and I regularly win this type of DMV hearing. After about a month of back and forth calls with the Client he finally decided to hire me and take a shot at winning. After preparing myself and my client for the hearing, I came in prepared with many objections to the DMV's evidence and their witness they subpoena'd. After cross examination of DMV's witness and having my client testify, I felt good about our chances of winning, and felt that we should win based on the holes I poked in the DMV's case . After waiting over one month for the results, the "Order of Set Aside" (ie. we won) notice arrived in the mail. Happy client who gets to keep working!
