Ms. Broutian has practiced law in California since 2012. As Partner of the Garibyan & Broutian Law Firm, Ms. Broutian handles personal injury, property damage, and consumer protection matters, including lemon law and auto dealer fraud. Additionally, Ms. Broutian's has represented victims of both the Santa Clarita Sand Fire and La Tuna Canyon Wildfire against their respective insurance companies in bringing their homes back to their pre-wildfire conditions.
Prior to foundation of the GB Firm, Ms. Broutian worked as a staff and contract attorney for top plaintiff and defense firms in Los Angeles, providing discovery services on complex litigation matters. These cases involved vast and varying legal issues, such as mortgage-backed securities fraud, ERISA compliance as applied to “church plan” status, asbestos exposure claims, and renewable energy contract disputes.
While attending law school, Ms. Broutian simultaneously worked full-time in civil litigation, focusing primarily on personal injury. She negotiated numerous insurance subrogation claims for personal injury actions, many of which resulted in settlement. She also gained experience working on various stages of multiple mass tort actions and assisted in drafting an article on the role of objectors in class action settlements, which was featured in the Daily Journal. Additionally, Ms. Broutian was an extern for the Cancer Legal Resource Center where she provided legal resource assistance to cancer patients for issues regarding employment and housing discrimination, estate planning, State Disability Insurance, Medi-Cal and Medicare, Family Medical Leave Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Ms. Broutian received her Bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in Armenian Studies, cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles. She received her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, where she attained particularly high grades in Legal Research and Writing, Legal Drafting, Torts, Constitutional Law, and Negotiations. Maral is admitted to practice in California, as well as the United States District Court, Central District of California. Ms. Broutian attained her mediation credentials from the National Association of Certified Mediators.
In addition to her work as an attorney and a mediator, Ms. Broutian is an Adjunct Teaching Fellow for the Fundamentals of Bar Writing course at Loyola Law School.
