Read the fine print

I called in a last minute pinch for a work comp case. They got right back to me. Didn't have a Doctor. Not a problem I was told. 5K retainer. I spent 2 weeks till 4am compiling every note, record and narratives. I had asked for accommodation from the OWCP and totally discriminated against. Dan did no...thing with this, and that is where I could have won. I instead was told by the para that I could not get the case into OWCP in time because I had no doctor.!!! That was what Dan said was not a problem. He then wanted me to shell out another 700.00 for his (cousin) who would review my case. Of course we most likely wouldn't win that time, but he was sure I had a good case. It was weird every time I called to ask about something else and was told to fax, as it was cheaper. I got the bill 6 months later and they ate up 3700 of my retainer. Seems that they charge a 200.00 a month review fee even if you or they are not doing anything about the case at that point. 425.00 an hour! Then comes the fine print. If they win your case, they will be managing your award and may charge more than that for managing fees. They are not allowed to take a % of what you might win, so they take their fee, second by second. I probably could have won the case on my own with all the work I did. So sorry I called for advise! I spent my last of my savings and all my nights of no sleep. If you have about 40,000 to drop, you might get somewhere. I had to give up, I don't have deep pockets.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
