Alexander Gilanians

Alex Gilanians joined the firm of Halversen & Gilanians in 1996 as a partner, one year after being admitted as a member of the State Bar, and within two years, formed his own firm in May 1998 as the law office of Alex Gilanians, A Professional Corporation, specializing in construction law, and business litigation.  He also has substantial experience with business transactions, business litigation, consumer protection and real property law.  Alex has received a excellent ratings from Martindale-Hubbell for maintaining the highest standards of professional and ethical excellence in the legal community.

He came to law practice with a background in construction. Alex graduated cum laude from University of Western Ontario, in London Ontario in 1985 with a BSC in Mathematics & Statistics with an Honors degree in Actuarial Science.  His first job was with Executive Life Insurance Company in Santa Monica California in 1986 as a member of the Research and Development for Executive Life Insurance where he performed product promotion and public relations, researched, analyzed and reviewed statistical data for various insurance related products.

Knowing that he could do more with his skill set, Alex returned to school in 1990 to pursue his education in law and in 1995 graduated from the Glendale University College of Law and successfully passed his bar examination on his first attempt.  While attending law school, he worked as a project and office manager at a local construction firm, clerked at the law office of George C. Halversen, and attended law school in the evenings.  Upon passing the bar exam he became and associate in the firm and within six months became a partner forming the firm of Halversen & Gilanians. 

Since 1995 Alex has represented clients in over 1000 suits in Superior, Municipal and Federal courts in California.  From adversary proceedings in Bankruptcy Court to arbitrations and mediations with the American Arbitration Association, most of his activities have involved resolutions of civil disputes spanning a wide range of cases and areas of law.

He has been a guest speaker on construction issues at various professional meetings and a panel member on numerous intermediate and advanced level Construction Law programs.

Alex has also acted as either mediator or arbitrator in over 100 cases, including many for the Los Angeles Superior Court, as a judge pro tem and pro bono mediator in Court administered programs administered by various judges in the Los Angeles Superior Court.
