Carlos Roberto Perez

Carlos Perez left original copies of important documents I had provided to him in the hands of the opposing counsel, supposedly for the opposing counsel to make copies. These documents should never have left his sight.The documents "mysteriously disappeared” and were never returned to me. Carl...os Perez made no attempt to contact even one the 25 witnesses who were willing to testify on my behalf. He knew six months ahead of time when the pending hearing would be. By five days prior to the hearing Carlos Perez had not called any of the witnesses on a list of 25 who were willing to testify for me. Nor by that time had Mr. Perez deposed anyone from the short list on the opposing side. Finally, the Monday before the hearing, he set a deposition for one opposing side witness. He then called me very late Sunday night to tell me, "Oh, I changed my mind. I am going to have the opposing counsel depose YOU tomorrow." (I had already been deposed by the opposing counsel long before this.) I pointed out that the opposing counsel had not properly noticed me for an additional deposition and they were therefore not legally entitled to depose me tomorrow. Carlos required me to be deposed anyway. Carlos Perez showed up completely unprepared. He seemed to know nothing about the case. I suspect that is why he did not want to depose THEIR witness; he simply could not be bothered to prepare for the case. Carlos Perez never did depose ANYONE on my behalf. Realizing that I had now only four days before the hearing and a completely worthless attorney representing me, I decided the best I could do was to accept my employer’s offer of three months’ severance pay and five years of insurance benefits This required me to sign an agreement with my former employer. Mr. Perez handed me a two page single spaced document turned to the final signature page and told me to sign it, yet he had not read the agreement himself. ( I asked him and he admitted he had not read the document!) The document DID include a statement indicating what a fine job CARLOS PEREZ had done. Go figure. I had been referred to the law firm where Carlos Perez works by my Union. However, hiring Carlos Perez to represent me was the biggest mistake I ever made. I found him to be unprofessional, careless, unprepared, disorganized and lazy.
