Take your time to find a better person and look else where. Here's why:

As an authorized family representative whom the attorney directly billed for communication and consultation hours during a guardianship matter, this first hand review evaluates the professional conduct of Scott Ayers through the lens of psychological safety, fiduciary communication, and institutional... stress induction within a minor guardianship proceeding. 1. Disruption of Psychological Safety & Structural Intimidation: Crisis-state clients require clear, predictable, and attunative communication to navigate complex legal systems. Counsel established a hostile communication framework by preemptively threatening charges upon initial contact. This dynamic induced acute psychological distress, creating a functional barrier that deterred family members from seeking vital case updates. In psychological terms, this constitutes a coercive strategy that leverages financial fear to suppress client oversight. This is called pay me then shut up tactic. 2. Deflection, Invalidation, and Monetized Conflict: When the client attempted to establish normative communication boundaries, counsel engaged in defensive redirection—reversing the inquiry to interrogate the client and subsequently monetizing the adversarial exchange. This behavior reflects a profound lack of emotional regulation and a failure of client-centered stewardship. 3. Unpredictable Threat Scenarios & Post-Closure Shock: Counsel utilized structural ambiguity regarding fee expectations during a venue transfer, withholding financial clarity until after the legal matter had concluded. The subsequent delivery of a substantial retroactive invoice, coupled with automated interest penalty threats, inflicted severe post-closure financial trauma on a family already navigating grief. 4. Post-Transactional Avoidance: The complete cessation of communication following written requests for accounting clarification demonstrates a pattern of post-transactional avoidance, compromising the basic ethical tenets of accountability and professional closure. Conclusion: The legal representation was marked by hostile gatekeeping, strategic unpredictability, emotional invalidation, and post-case abandonment. Scott knows nothing of "inconsistent reinforcement." Prospective clients seeking compassionate, accessible advocacy should look elsewhere period.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards

  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
