Mr. Rabenn did a great job handling my case

A good friend of mine suggested I hire Mr. Rabenn when my wife said she wanted a divorce. He had a perfect blend of support, creative solutions, and knowledge. He was open to my ideas and wishes while keeping me on track for what would be in my best interest. I always felt that he truly had my bac...k without being on one narrow path to solutions. I never felt that he ever tried to “pad” his billable hours and always had my best interests in the front of his mind. He always knew when to let me “have my way,” and when to tell me that this might be a regret at some future date. There was an issue with a QDRO near the end of the process that he handled beautifully. His character, knowledge, and skill are what give the profession the respect that it truly deserves. I would also like to note that Sandra, his executive assistant, was always above and beyond the call of duty. She would always answer the questions that she felt appropriate to answer and then would communicate with Mr. Rabenn for the more “legalese” type issues. My sincere thanks, V Lee

Legal Malpractice Personified - Stay away at all costs

I hired Glen Rabenn to represent me in my divorce way back in 1992. Attorney Rabenn neglected to retain his preferred forensic accountant (Steve Zamusen) on my case in a timely fasshion, so my wife's lawyer (who was not a Certified Family Law Specialist) hired Zamusen out from under us. From that poi...nt forward, Glen Rabenn showed absolutely no interest in my case. At one point while I was out of the country for several weeks, Glen committed me to an interim spousal support order that I never approved of and could not afford to pay. Meanwhile, I had a 5 unit apartment building that was experiencing rental income problems. So I asked Glen Rabenn for advice as to letting the bank take the property back. This supposed state bar certified family law expert actually advised me to default on the Apartment Mortgage and failed to advise me that I could be sued for what is known as a deficiency Judgement. In fact I did thereafter get sued for deficiency and was hit with a $250,000 judgement in addition to losing the building. I also lost several million dollars in the divorce, almost all of it traceable to Glen Rabenn's willful failure to hire Zamucen and Zamucen's subsequent work for my adversary. I should have reported Glen Rabenn to the State Bar, and I should have sued him for Professional Negligence, but I did neither, choosing instead to just move on with my life. I ended up having to declare bankruptcy because of Glen Rabenn's incompetent handling of my Family Law matter, and since then my world, and the world in general has changed significantly. Now that the Internet has come to exist, there are few secrets, and we live in a world where information is at our fingertips, so when I realized AVVO gives former clients an opportunity to let other new potential clients know what to expect of the lawyer they are contemplating to employ, I figured it is my civic duty to let anyone in need of a divorce lawyer know what my experience with Glen Rabenn had been all those years ago. Make sure you hire a lawyer with a better sense of professionalism than I did if you are going through a divorce. I am certain there are much better Family Law Specialists in the Long Beach area if you have such a need. Don't make the very costly and painful mistake that I made.

The statements made by the reviewer are a distortion of the facts, which are as follows: 1. The reviewer is making false allegations about events that the reviewer claims occurred more than twenty years ago. 2. I have been awarded an "A-V Preeminent" rating by Martindale.com, which is the most respected attorney rating site on the internet. This is the highest rating possible. Please see http://www.martindale.com/Results.aspx?ft=1&frm=freesearch&afs=glen%20rabenn 3. I have a spotless disciplinary record with the State Bar. Please see http://members.calbar.ca.gov/fal/Member/Detail/543714. I was one of the first Certified Family Law Specialists in California. 5. I was retained by the reviewer to handle the dissolution of the reviewer's marriage. The reviewer did not retain me to provide advice relative to the foreclosure of real estate. I have never recommended to any client that he/she allow real property to go into foreclosure. I have always made it my practice to refer clients to other specialists if they have legal problems outside of my area of expertise. 6. The reviewer admits to not filing a malpractice case or a complaint with the State Bar. At the time that I was retained, the reviewer was an attorney at law, and still is an attorney in California. 7. I represented this individual for only a short time, at the beginning of the case. I was not the reviewer's attorney at the end of the case and I had nothing to do with the ultimate outcome of the case. 8. I did not enter into a support agreement without the reviewer’s consent. In fact, it is not legally possible for an attorney in a family law matter to enter into a support agreement without the consent and signature of the client.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
