Xinyi Zhang

I am a recovering addict who was using while pregnant with my child. I eventually did get clean but only a month before she was born. Because of that, DCFS got involved and took her out of my custody. They gave me the opportunity to earn her back and appointed Xinyi Zhang to me as an attorney on my b...ehalf. I drug tested every week for over a year, completed parenting classes and substance abuse treatment. I went to weekly therapy sessions, and am an active member of a 12 step group. I am also a full time student with a 4.0 studying to be an addictions counselor. Because of the change I made and a good Social Worker who was appointed to my case, I did get my daughter back. Unfortunately, my attorney was not the reason at all and has only been a placeholder in the legal proceedings. I called well over ten times throughout the year and never got a response from him after the first month he was appointed. I only spoke to him for about a minute before proceedings and luckily, things were going my way so he didn't have to argue on my behalf. I sent emails with questions and requests and he has never responded. Even now, that my case has been closed and her father and I have been awarded joint custody, I have no access to the paperwork and had no idea the agreement had been made. I only found out because her father has a wonderful attorney who communicates with him and sends him the paperwork from court. If you are someone who needs a lawyer in your corner, this is not the man. I don't know if he is just overworked or doesn't care but he doesn't have time for you and it seems as though he doesn't care.
