ABOUT KURT SCHLICHTER

Founding partner and trial counsel Kurt Andrew Schlichter is a graduate of Loyola Law School, where he was a Senior Note and Comment Editor on the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review. He majored in Communications and Political Science as an undergraduate at the University of California, San Diego. He holds a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.

Kurt is admitted to practice in California and Washington, D.C. His practice focuses on the defense and prosecution of civil lawsuits. Mr. Schlichter represents several Fortune 500 companies in California, as well as many mid-sized and small businesses, as well as individuals. These include all types of cases, including disputes involving contractors and builders, real estate, contracts and torts. Of particular interest are cases involving intentional torts such as fraud, defamation and malicious prosecution.

Kurt has a solid track record of success. He won an individual a $3.05 million defamation judgment, successfully defended a nationally known bank against a multi-million dollar lender liability claim, and successfully defended an individual accused of misappropriating over $2 million. He has prevailed in trials and arbitrations involving “lemon law” lawsuits, personal injury defense and contract disputes.

In the last two years, Kurt has achieved solid results for his clients such as:

  • Winning a defense trial verdict in a multi-million dollar inventory damage case.

  • Winning defenses victories in three consumer fraud cases, one of which led to a published appellate decision upholding the verdict.

  • Winning summary judgment on a multi-death claim against a landlord.

  • Winning a unanimous defense verdict in a property loss claim involving a valuable diamond ring.

  • Winning a net recovery for his contractor client in a binding arbitration.

  • Winning an appellate decision and over $30,000 in fees and costs in a consumer fraud case.

Kurt frequently serves as a news source, an on-screen commentator, and an analyst on Fox News, Fox Business News and HLN, as well as many national and local radio shows. He is a senior columnist at Townhall.com. Kurt also spent several years as a stand-up comic. He speaks often to groups around the country.

Kurt is also a retired Army infantry colonel (Active and National Guard), a graduate of the elite Army Airborne School, and a veteran of both the Persian Gulf War and Operation Enduring Freedom in Kosovo. He commanded the of the over 1200 Soldiers of the elite 1st Squadron, 18th Cavalry Regiment (Reconnaissance-Surveillance-Target Acquisition) and the Rear Element, 1st Battalion, 160th Infantry. Much of his work focused on disaster relief operations.

Kurt believes that the organizational and strategy skills gained from his military experience, combined with his ability to connect with and win over audiences he learned as a performer, have contributed greatly to his successful representation of his clients.

  • Jeffrey Michael Schreiber

Attorney Schlichter could argue any side of any given issue against an impenetrable brick wall and not only prevail, but inevitably cause the brick wall to subsequently reconsider its otherwise successful career in law. All kidding aside, while education and experience cannot be discounted, values, principles and consistency thereof and adherence thereto make an already good litigator exceptional. Mr. Schlichter has these qualities in spades. I wholeheartedly endorse this lawyer.
