Dorisa Shahmirzai

Dorisa Shahmirzai,handles litigation and transactional matters relating to businesses, life sciences, entertainment and video game companies, digital content, innovation markets and technology sector.

She is recognized expert in new media law, intellectual property exploitation, social media law, copyrights and trademark protection online and related legal and business affairs. She frequently attends and speaks at top technology conferences in Los Angeles and nationwide.  Using her expertise in intellectual property law, market analysis, and contract negotiation she advises clients in deal making, development, and marketing, with a focus on web, mobile and social platforms.   

After law school, Dorisa worked at Clifford Chance S.L. in Barcelona, Spain where she handled patent, copyright and trademark disputes, She is serving as a panel attorney for California Lawyers for the Arts where she regularly conducts client friendly workshops on fundamental of copyrights and on issues of defamation, rights of privacy and negotiating key deal terms in motion picture and television. She is currently an adjunct faculty at UCLA extension teaching intellectual property and dealmaking for new media and production companies.

She has also handled litigation matters from inception to trial. She handled a multi-million dollar law suit involving Eli Lily for a patent infringement case. Dorisa externed with the San Francisco Superior Court, with Judge Warren, the grandson of Supreme Court, Justice Earl Warren as a post graduate law clerk.

Dorisa Shahmirzai completed her undergraduate studies in Neurobiology at UC Berkeley, her graduate work at Harvard University, and her legal education at UC Davis School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in CA.
