This attorney’s involvement caused years of unnecessary trauma for my child and me. I was completely alienated from my daughter when she turned 14 and did not see her for more than three years. I was a good, capable mother with a stable home, a good job, and no issues with drugs or alcohol. I never ...harmed my child. Her father sexually molested her for over 3 years, during this alienation period that Mr. Spiller permitted. Mr. Spiller had given the father, whom I had a domestic restraining order against, complete custody of my teenage daughter. As assigned minor’s counsel, he billed us every time we returned to court, and I believe the conflict was allowed to continue rather than being resolved. Mr. Spiller knew I would never give up on my child, and that I would continue to return to court to fight for her. I felt trapped in a system that rewarded chaos. When my daughter later reached out to me, at 17, and shared serious concerns about her safety at her father's house, she also told me that this attorney discouraged her from contacting me and advised her to stay where she was. She ultimately ignored that advice and came to me on her own. The damage done to our family cannot be undone. I believe this attorney failed his duty to protect a child and instead prioritized a process that prolonged suffering. I would strongly caution any parent before trusting him with their child’s future.

This lawyer was assigned in a very contentious custody case. This is a lawyer with a known history of flirtations with females, and there are a number of reports including complaints to the bar association regarding the specific issue. My personal experience included a total failure to perform ...his due diligence. There was no attempt to make any contact with any person's identified by the father, and his report filed with the court admittedly contains no attempts to glean any information from anyone except for the mother. The report contained blatantly false information that repeated perjurious statements that have been made in another state earlier in the case. His actions since have only exacerbated the situation, and have emboldened the mother to continue her attack on my time and bond with my child. This lawyer intentionally refused to allow the submission of a co-parenting and child therapist that have been involved in this case for significant period of time. He is intentionally misled the court into believing that the therapists involvement was during a period of time that is not relevant. That excuse is factually incorrect, and he abused his access and involvement with the court to legitimize the statement said he made as true. This lawyer is only concerned about himself and his reputation, and has zero concern about the child he was assigned to counsel. This lawyer should not be practicing law, nor should he be allowed unsupervised around any child for any reason.

Mr. Spiller was appointed by Judge Feffer for My daughter on January 21st 2009. He was honest from the time we walked in the door up until we walked out. He started the meeting out with making me aware of the Law and offered books and family codes to help me reference for my own comfort. This man w...as not some I do this to get a pay check Attorney. He showed compassion for my daughter and seem genuine with he love for his Job. His words were not rehearsed; he did not just tell me what he felt I might want to here. He told me what he expected from me and what I should expect from him. I am the respondent to my daughter’s father taking custody of my daughter, and although I do not have her back, and we are still working with Mr. Spiller I am so pleased at my first impression of him. I feel like I can trust him to look out for the BEST interest of my daughter. My daughter also trusts him.
