20+ years of delight

I have retained Lawrence several times over the past 20 years. It is always a joy to work with him and his team as he is one of the few well balanced attorneys who, while being immensely knowledgeable, still takes the time to truly hear and listen to his client and in so doing forces him to focus an...d hone the issues of the case. He works 'with' you. Coming from a past at big firms he brings all the perspective needed but in a 'boutique' size. p.s. read the other 3 reviews. Interesting how the two 'educated' sounding clients gave him a positive review while the illuterate one was the unhappy camper.

Excellent firm

I hired Lawrence Segal a few months ago to assist me with an employment termination issue. I was highly recommended to him by another firm that didn't have experience with the type of issue that I was dealing with and felt Lawrence was more suited. He knows the ins and outs of California employme...nt law and is a very smart guy. He has good people in his office as well. Lawrence was very clear about his fee structure and did his best to minimize the charges to me, being clear about how I should and shouldn't interact with him in order to not get unexpected charges. He and his staff are very detailed oriented and very quick. Their responsiveness was excellent and I was kept well informed all along the way. We recently concluded the matter very much to my satisfaction and I credit Lawrence and his associates with how they handled the case, from understanding the issues that I was facing to negotiating with my employer. I wholeheartedly recommend Lawrence and his firm and would use them again without hesitation.

Easily Among Los Angeles' Finest Firms

Lawrence Segal and his amazing team performed a miracle for myself and a partner during a recent legal issue. We hired Lawrence to sort out a highly-complex rights issue with a major conglomerate, and attain a settlement that was fair and within range of what we believed we deserved. Lawrence and his... team took our case, and we received more than we anticipated. This group excels at personal communication. If a pending action would not be cost-effective, we were told in advance and given options. I cannot express how much this honesty was appreciated. Unlike other firms, Lawrence, Tabitha and Andrew (the "team") worked with us every step of the way, while warning us along the way as to certain expenses that would not be well-considered. Again, we were offered options, or sometimes just very good advice. So many others would have "taken the money;" it was far more important for this team to perform above and beyond for their clients, then to have us spend more than we needed to. I had never met a firm with this much integrity. To summarize as well as I can, as I am disallowed from publicly discussing the minutia of the settlement, I had optioned a literary property, then sold the option with myself and another as keymen, meaning, we would be attached in certain capacities moving forward. I sold the option, the project was ultimately set-up but the end-buyer was not informed of my role, nor that of my partner. In short, we were owed compensation, and various extras along with said compensation. To get there was a nightmarish entanglement of rights issues, sorting through original agreements and so on. Long and short - we received our share. I would recommend this group to anyone, at anytime. Lawrence is a fantastic attorney, his team is first-rate, and they're really good people too. I'm very thankful for them.

Horrible Practice

Lawrence Segal took a good case on contingency. Contract signed, everything good, process begins, and lawsuit drafted. Opposing party given opportunity to sit down and discuss before suit is filed. Fine, so far so good. But in that meeting, opposing side had 3 attorneys in that room. Two attorney...s from a movie studio, and one from another distributor. They pushed back -- and pushed back hard. Clearly, there was going to be a fight. And they of course called into credibility some of the evidence we had. (We didn't show them everything, but a few pieces.) Lawrence then tells me after the meeting in the parking garage, that he can't continue this case on contingency. "What???" I exclaimed. Yeah. He says it's going to be a lot of work, and he'll do it, but not on contingency. Incredible. So... my lesson learned, was that this dishonest lawyer was looking for a quick payday, thinking the opposing party would quickly capitulate and write a big check... and when it was clear that wouldn't happen, he left me high and dry. Dishonest, dishonest, dishonest. He should have been upfront about this from the start. Will NEVER hire him again, and have told countless people to stay away from this man.
