Stephen Robert Kahn

DO NOT HIRE! Stephan Kahn acts as if he cares in the beginning. He is a very nonchalant man and a horrible communicator. I hired Kahn a year ago for a criminal matter and paid him $5,000 to start the case. Kahn stated in the beginning that it was not about the money he works to get his client's home.... About a year into the case before I decided to fire Kahn as legal representative of my husband, he started to show lack of concern. Kahn allowed the district attorney to do most of the work when he should have done foot work to prove my husband innocence. Kahn had no strategy, nor did he even try to get any of my husband cases dismissed. When asked can he get a charge dismissed or at least file some type of motion instead of just showing up to court and waving time, Kahn responds to me and says he will not make himself look stupid and file a dismissal on any case and at the same time stated one of my husband cases was very weak. We also started to figure out that Kahn had no real acknowledgment of my husband case, he didn't even know how many charges overall my husband had and had his case almost a year. Kahn wasn't even aware that my husband didn't have any strikes but yet he agreed in court with the judge when she stated my husband was a striker. He began to make my husband feel hopeless. he has told my incarcerated husband on several occasions no matter what he decides to do with his case that he still gets to walk out the door everyday while my husband sits in jail. Kahn is a very unprofessional person and have lack of empathy for humans. Kahn has been a lawyer for decades and just maybe he has no love in his heart for it anymore. I pray to God he doesn't lie and prey on anyone else's family for money. We paid a total of $9,000 just for him to stand side of my husband at court. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM FOR ANYONE.

In 2013, I was arrested for a DUI and gave Steve a call to see if he would represent me in connection with the matter. I had never been arrested before and knew little about criminal law. Nevertheless, Steve proved to be an excellent lawyer, and I would strongly recommend Steve as a criminal attorney.... Steve knows the law and the prosecutors around LA extremely well. Perhaps more importantly though, Steve is great at setting realistic expectations and counseling someone through an extremely difficult time. I always felt that Steve gave my matter the utmost attention, and after several months of speaking with the prosecutor on my case, Steve turned my DUI arrest into a reckless driving plea.

Stephen Kahn is a rare find in criminal law, a knowledgeable lawyer, who cares about his clients, not merely their cases. In Federal criminal law, where there are no guarantees, he identifies the core issues, and reconciles the expectations of his client with the uncertainties of the Federal cri...minal justice system. Thus,Mr. Kahn chooses his words carefully, and then acts on what he says. If he needs to involve outside experts, he does. It is not about ego, but getting the best result for his client. During the case.. he, or one of his staff, will call you back promptly, even if you call a little after 5pm. He will return your call as criminal cases are by definition very stressful on client/defendants. In addition to strong client interaction, he knows the importance of reaching across the aisle to the AUSA to promote a professional, relationship based on mutual respect. Bottom line, not only does he care about his clients, but he has the intellectual and personal gravitas to guide the process to its optimal resolution. A true class act! Suggestion for improvement: Too bad Mr. Kahn does not do civil litigation, because when you find a good attorney, you like to engage him on repeat work.

Stephen Kahn is an extraordinary lawyer. He is intelligent,and thorough and will work until he gets the desired result both you and he feel is right and just. His knowledge of the legal system and the law is exceptional. His guidance throughout our case was absolutely correct and he did this with t...he calmness that we all needed. We have worked with many attorneys in the past and he is by far the most honest and knowlegable. After working with Stephen Kahn we would not work with anyone else.
