DCFS Investigation

Mr. Metzger is by far the most efficient, professional, and caring attorney I have ever known. Dealing with DCFS can be heart-wrenching, overwhelming and kafkaesque. His calm, honest, methodical approach achieved better results for my family than I even dared wish. Thank you Paul!

Aggressively fought for my parental rights when Children's Services split up my family

If you've been pulled into the system by the Department Children Services, this is the attorney that you want having your back! He truly knows what limits to push to get you to your desired end result in the shortest time possible. He's a straight shooter with a healthy respect by his fellow attorne...ys and Judges he appears before. He won't tell you what you want, he WILL tell you what you NEED to hear and what you MUST listen to if you want to get the desired result in the shortest time frame. He is available by phone or email to ease your fears and questions throughout your case. You will always feel he's on your side in Court with the way he stands up for you when he feels your rights are being trampled.

Piece of mind is priceless!!!

I did not have the normal case. My adopted son was aggresive and violent but no one at DCFS wanted to help. My wife and I asked for DCFS to take custody of him because we were in fear of him hurting himself or us. The only reply we got was we will help with counseling. They even threatened to char...ge me with abandonment and have me arrested. We were scared and worried not knowing where to turn. We wanted our son placed where he could be safe. My wife called every possible attorney in our county and no one wanted to take on DCFS. We decided to go outside our county and found Atty. Metzger. My wife first call to Atty. Metzger was very calming he took the time to explain to her the process of Juvenile Dependency Court. We met with him and his experience and knowledge seem almost to good to be true. We hired him but still waited for him to drop the ball like most attorneys we had spoken to before but Atty. Metzger was true to his word. He was 10 steps ahead of DCFS and their attorney. He explained everything to us in simple terms so we felt comfortable with what was occurring. He is not one of those attorneys that has a staff or paralegal doing his paperwork and just signs it, he is hands on. We would get updates on weekends or late at night. Which made us realize he really cared about our case. I know we could have waited and gotten a county issued defendent attorney and saved money that we really did not have to spend but when your are going against DCFS you need the BEST in your corner and Attorney Paul Metzger is the Best in our book.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"I was the opposing counsel against Mr. Metzger in a juvenile dependency case that involved several complicated issues. Mr. Metzger is one of the few private juvenile dependency lawyers in Los Angeles County that understands the dependency laws and how to effectively advocate for his clients. Dependency court is very specialized and takes a well trained lawyer to handle properly. Mr. Metzger understands how social workers, judges, and minor's attorneys make decisions, which is essential to winning results. If you are looking for a juvenile dependency attorney to fight DCFS and the foster care system, you better call Paul!"

Juvenile law lawyer | Oct 08

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"I've known Paul Metzger and the very high quality of his legal work for over 20 years. He is, quite simply, an outstanding advocate and the juvenile dependency attorney I would call if I needed one. He is quickly able to grasp and evaluate even very complex issues, and then devise the most effective way forward. He is unrelenting when he determines that fighting an issue is the best path. And he is a top-notch trial attorney with vast experience and polished courtroom skills. He is also a fantastic negotiator and as a result of his trial and negotiation skills has been able to resolve cases -- ones that other attorneys likely wouldn't even want to handle -- very favorably. Paul genuinely cares about his clients and their dilemmas. He doesn't have staff talking to his clients -- he communicates directly. So if you want the best juvenile dependency attorney out there, I say choose Paul."
