Leif W. Reinstein is a Partner of Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman LLP in the Entertainment Transactions and New Media and Technologies Groups, and heads Rosenfeld's television practice. Leif specializes in high-level business and financial transactions for the development, production, distribution, and exploitation of television, digital media, and other multi-media intellectual property. His wide array of clients include major television networks and premium SVOD exhibitors, feature film mini-majors expanding into television, small-screen studios wishing to finance and own content, well-leveraged production companies, funds expanding into content, and Fortune 500 companies. Leif also represents rights holders, format owners and brands in complex property driven deals. Leif expertly provides his clients with a superlative "all-in-one" advisory service which includes business affairs, legal counsel, Hollywood insider perspective, and global marketplace strategy.
Leif began his career at an institutional law firm as a corporate associate working in mergers and acquisitions and on initial public offerings for media conglomerates and start-ups. He then became a talent attorney at a top entertainment boutique where for ten years, as a partner, he represented A-list actors, writers, showrunners, producers, directors and companies on some of the industry's most successful movie franchises and television shows.
Throughout his career Leif has represented FremantleMedia, which in 2010 invited him to run its scripted television business and legal affairs division in Los Angeles. While in-house there, Leif implemented new corporate policies, led negotiations with major U.S broadcasters and co-production partners, and was instrumental in cross-border financing and distribution deals out of its London headquarters. In furthering his career expertise in new media & technology issues for entertainment, Leif also worked closely with Fremantle's digital unit, FMX, and its production and exploitation of original online and mobile content.
With his deep background in corporate transactions, talent representation and in-house business, legal & financial affairs, Leif is uniquely able to advise clients from multiple commercial vantage points so as to conclude thoughtful deals for them which address today's changing world for entertainment.
During his off time, Leif actively works with and supports gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual and questioning youth through his volunteering at The Trevor Project. He is an LA native, sports enthusiast, civil aviation and travel buff, and animal lover with two beautiful, adopted cats -- Gilbert and Katja -- whom he shares with his husband-to-be, Jaime. Leif brings an international flavor to all of his dealings as he is a dual national of the U.S. and Finland (E.U.), speaks multiple languages, and has lived on four continents.
