James Michael Gilbert

James Gilbert is a partner at Steckbauer Weinhart, LLP, with over 25 years of experience in high stakes commercial real estate disputes (including commercial leases, lending, foreclosures, partnerships, receiverships, purchase and sale, creditor's rights, letters of credit, land use / CEQA, bankruptcy and boundary cases) as well as business litigation (breach of contract, fraud and trade secrets). Mr. Gilbert maintains a Preeminent “AV” peer rating by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating for professional excellence and ethical standards. He was named a “Super Lawyer,” a rating reserved for the top five percent of lawyers in each state in 2014-2017.

He previously worked at two of the largest law firms in the country, Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, and Norton, Rose Fulbright (formerly Fulbright & Jaworski).  He represented Fortune 500 clients in sophisticated, high stakes litigation. He represents clients in a cost effective manner with an eye towards the bottom line.  However, if the need arises, he is prepared to aggressively represent his clients in contentious litigation.
