Nothing about the situation sounds uncommon or like you're being done wrong. These things do take time; I tell all my clients that.
Car accident. Head laceration. Two broken ribs. Sprained ACL and sprained meniscus. Head on collision into a street light.

There's a good chance the person could locate you. I might use an address you don't usually sleep it, and then provide a good phone number.

You might well need a lawyer depending on your injuries vs. their offer. How are you doing now? That sounds like a violent crash.
