Jerl Brandon Leutz

Jerl Leutz is an associate with Rome & Associates, handling a variety of litigation and Internet-related matters involving intellectual property claims, commercial disputes, governance and compliance.

Mr. Leutz’s Internet law work, includes advising and consulting with clients on governance, contractual compliance, and developing internal and external policies. His intellectual property experience includes heading up a collection of related trade secret misappropriation cases in the payment card processing space, having advocated for parties at various levels in the processing chain. In this industry, Mr. Leutz’s work has led to dismissals and favorable settlements.

Mr. Leutz has also overseen a variety of creative online brand protection services for growing, well-known online companies, such as Skype, BitTorrent, Sharman Networks, Joost, Rdio, Vdio, LiveJournal, Riot Games and others. Further, he continues to develop an area of practice in the sector of “disruptive” technologies.

For his clients abroad in electronic payment processing matters, Mr. Leutz obtained a $1.45 million verdict in a breach of oral agreement and fraud case. His commercial litigation experience includes defending several global financial institutions in high-stakes matters.

He is admitted to practice in both the State Courts of California and the Federal Courts of the Central, Southern and Northern Districts of the Ninth Circuit in California. He is fluent in Spanish.
